Generación Mediterránea S.A. owns the power plant Central Térmica Riojana, located in the city of La Rioja. This power plant was acquired in 2010 when it was out of service. After repairing its three turbines (a 14 MW John Brown and two 13 MW Fiat), it began its commercial operations in 2011 reaching a total installed capacity of 40 MW.
In 2016 the plant began the construction works to install a new Siemens turbine of 50 MW of nominal capacity, which started operations in May 2017, reaching a total installed capacity of 90 MW. The plant is connected to the Argentine Interconnected System (SADI).
